How to apply for Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for cancer patients?

Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF) primarily focuses on providing immediate relief to families of those killed due to natural calamities such as floods, earthquakes etc and also to victims of major accidents and riots.

However, in the past few years the fund has also been utilized for partially funding medical treatments costs for major condition such as heart surgery, kidney transplant, cancer etc.

The fund gets donations from individuals, institutions, corporate CSRs etc and is disbursed to families in need.

The fund has tied up with several govt and private hospitals to provide support to cancer patients. The list of empanelled hospitals could be found here

Applicants, applying for grant of financial assistance for medical treatment, are required to submit the following

  • Enclose two passport size photographs of patient (one pasted on application, another stapled with application)
  • Copy of residence proof
  • Original medical certificate incorporating the type of disease and estimated cost of expenditure
  • Copy of his/her income certificate.

After receipt of application, the same is considered and disbursements are made at the sole discretion of the Prime Minister. The applications and the support is decided on basis of the patient’s case and their background and availability of funds.
